「BitTorrent Now」がBitTorrent（ビットトレント）といえば、“Torrent”とは急流・激流といった意味で、ファイルを高速にダウンロードできるファイル共有ソフトウェア（P2Pソフトウェア）で、著作権の問題など違法性を指摘されていました。今回の「BitTorrent Now」は、こうしたユーザーの著作権のあるコンテンツ ダウンロードと言った違法性よりも、コンテンツのオンデマンド・ストリーミングに焦点を当てたものとなっています。iPhoneなどのiOS、Android、そしてApple TV向けに、現在「BitTorrent Now 1.0」が公開されています。
